Birthday Dinner – Duck Breast with Port and Cherry Sauce
I had to find something special to make for my husband’s birthday – it was a Tuesday night so it needed to be something quite quick as I wouldn’t be home all afternoon to make it, and it had to be different and tasty. Doing some online research, and have duck breast in the freezer, I found Gordon Ramsay’s Duck Breast with Port and Cherry Sauce. It looked good and made my husband happy.
The hardest part seemed to be getting dried cherries for it, but they local supermarket has started stocking them so I was all good. It was actually an easy meal to make (although next time I would crisp the duck skin a little more), and was SO good. The dried cherries rehydrated in the port giving them a beautiful sweet rich flavour, and the pak choi out of the garden also went down a treat.
And of course, we served with with a glass of Central Otago Pinot Noir – perfect!
